Ignorance or Apathy

I had an interesting conversation with a client. It turns out that she is really passionate about working with people who have been traumatized by war, famine, oppressive regimes, etc,.

She made a statement that was rather profound. She said that the one thing she misses about her former place of work, which is an international aid agency, is the constant updates they would get with regards to catastrophic events happening around the world. And here, as in many places around the world, the main stream media barely covers these sorts of topics.

The main point here is that unless one is actively seeking out this information, it is really easy not to know what is going on around the world. Thus, it is really easy to remain ignorant … or even worse, simply be apathetic…
